The mother of two fatherless boys in Kennesaw, Ga receives an award for over-achieving single mothers.
Nickole Hawkins husband was killed fourteen years ago, introducing her to single parenthood. "It was a very tough time for me as a young mother after losing my husband at an early age." Nickole continues to provide motherly guidance for her young men the best way she knows how. With the support from family, she was able to attend a vocational school and received a Medical Assistant Certification. Nickole decided to move back to GA. En route to Atlanta she was involved in a six car pile up and was bed ridden for 3 months and unable to work.
Since the accident, Nickole finally was able to focus on getting back on track and began a career in the Dental Field. She has been with her current employer for seven years and has opened two additional offices and now serves as the Regional Director. She gives back to her community by volunteering as a mentor/coach for her sons' basketball league, as well as girl's volleyball.
"I am proud of my sons. Michael is a junior in high school and in another year I will have to contend with college tuition. Life has been tough for us but we are survivors and when you are given lemons you make Lemonade."
